Season Global Trading, a subsidiary of Oceanus Group 579 0.00% , has been appointed the exclusive agency for the distribution of Treasury Wine Estates&rsquo (TWE) Penfolds Champagne series across China.

 

In its press release on March 22, Oceanus notes that the appointment marks the first time that TWE, a premium wine company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), has   granted exclusivity to a company for the whole of China since its initial venture into the country over two decades ago. 

 

Oceanus says the exclusive rights will strengthen the group&rsquo s beverage distribution subsidiary product offerings in China. In addition, Season Global&rsquo s multiple online and offline channels are well-positioned to integrate with Penfolds' traditional sales channels to accelerate the marketing of Penfolds Champagne series in China, says the company.

 

Season Global has an established track record of over 40 years, and has built a strong reputation for its experience in importing and successfully marketing a wide portfolio of internationally renowned alcoholic beverage brands to Chinese consumers.

 

The Oceanus subsidiary has also established an extensive business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) network covering multiple online and offline channels.

 

Season Global has successfully established its own storefronts on major online platforms, which includes JD.com, PinDuoDuo and DouYin. Season was ranked as one of the top five storefronts on JD.com and PinDuoDuo in the beverage segment, according to Oceanus.

 

Season is also in partnership with Hong Kong&rsquo s Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) to engage in live broadcasting of liquor products on DouYin. 

 

Its offline channels include a wide network of supermarkets and convenience stores, which encompasses over 3,000 local retail stores across China.

Oceanus CEO Peter Koh has bought 509.2 ordinary million shares for $4.07 million or 0.8 cents a piece via an off-market transaction.

 

On March 8, Koh entered into a sale and purchase agreement (SPA) to purchase all the shares in Sigma Shares, one of Oceanus&rsquo shareholders.

 

Following the transaction, Koh now owns an 11.89% stake or 3.05 billion shares in Oceanus, up from his previous stake of 9.91%.
