I like to clear the air that I have nothing against Avarga. I' m long on Avarga, holding 428 lots. Not recent buy ok. Like what the senior Tong once said, their businesses are all cash generating one. Any extra cash, if no foreseeable usage, will be returned to shareholders as dividend. The younger Tong, upon taken over from his father, went one up with a new dividend policy. " Qtrly divdend with 40 - 50% payout of net profit." This is what I like about Avarga, not just because of sky high lumber price. |

Yes, basic demand is there, especially houses in Canada & US are prenominally constructed using timber. But when times are bad or when timber price is too high, people can choose not to build. That' s is when timber demand drops.This happened a couple of years back when very few new houses were built. Given current situation, unless necessary, people will likely hold. But having said that, the on going forest fire destroyed many houses. Not sure the number of burned down houses is large enough to balance out the drop in demand caused by the high timber price. One thing for sure is Tiaga current qtr profit will be stellar. Some reports estimated close to 80% jump. However, subsequent qtrs are still unknown. |

I do agree with what you said.
From their inventory it looks good and i believe that avarga on the whole has an awesome management. With this in mind i believe that avarga can be driven to greater heights. So in the long run i believe that it will do good. This is a consistently profitable business not like many other pennies.

i don' t know how profitable when a house is make of wood material hahaha but i do know many houses in US make of wood materials.. so demand is there..

I see differently. Lumber price too high, people postpone new project/A& A. Demand will drop as a result. So, too high price not necessarily good. Anyway, current price of 600+ still a lot higher than the normal 300 - 400 range. Having said that, it still depends on the stockpile Taiga hold. If their stock all bought at low price, they will huat big for now. But once stock depleted, they will have to procure at high price also. Means back to normal margin liao.

depend on demand for home renovation or woods material. i think Lumber price just a guide, up and down only affect a little. if oil company cannot drill any oil up from underground.. oil price up also no use. hahaha
