x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	courts is by far one of the worst performing stocks ever...once upon a time it was smrt who kept finding a way to make new lows but has now rallied 60% from the bottom...meanwhile, courts just kept finding new lows  and  it must have been really frustrated being a shareholder as hard earned money is being eroded from 1 dollar plus all the way down below 40 cents....and worse still, when other stocks are falling, people will make remark like " this stock may turn into another courts asia" , reflecting just how bad courts asia has been performing...might be a penny soon

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	After a worst quarter performance and and cutting wage expenses by 10% (either they cut 10% staff or 10% pay cut) and no change to top mgmt salary (they only give themselves more repsonsibilities), the RC can still award CEO 243,400 shares which they used company monies to buy from open market. http://infopub.sgx.com/FileOpen/CAL_draft%20ann_DSA.ashx?App=Announcement& FileID=325416 Now I wonder if they do share buy back becos they really think the share price is under-valued or if the mgmt need to have have treasuary shares to award themselves.....

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Not really.   Courts operation is still very old-fashioned.   Mainly bric-n-mortar.   Retail cost is high in Singapore and maybe even Malaysia.   They didn' t use enough of technologies to help them.   They are very far behind similar retailers in other developed countries. Can tell their cost saving is a reactive action trying to calm the market but Courts has failed too many times.   Investors all lose faith in them already except maybe SRG.   What they have done is not sincere enough.   If they really want to convince the market they can turnaround, they needs to do something more radical but they didn' t. Headcount rationalisation -  Expected 10% reduction in Group&rsquo s wages and salaries = ~0.1 * $61mil = $6.1mil or $1.5mil per Q Closure of loss making  stores -  1H FY14/15 retailing losses  incurred for the closed stores  amounting up to S$0.8 million = ~$0.8mil or $0.4mil per Q Reduction of distribution  and warehouse cost -  Distribution cost as a percentage of  merchandise sales decrease by  0.7% of merchandise sales = ~0.007 * $178.6mil = $1.25mil per Q Renegotiation of contracts  and others -  Reduce administrative expenses by  2% = ~0.02 * ($37mil-$3mil) = $0.7mil per Q. Add back one-off of $3mil Expect Q3 profit on same reveune is $1.7+$0.4+$1.5+$1.25+$0.7+$3 =$8.5mil If after all this cost saving measures, Courts top mgmt still cannot deliver a minimum of $8.5mil net profit for Q3, that is seriously a cock-up.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	They not only fleece people in the stores.  By actively buying back their shares, they probably give the impression that it' s value.  I got involved in the cheap sale of the yr - bought 55c, sold 45c.  A few days ago, thought of going in again  at 44c since coy kept supporting.  Thank God I resisted. I really think they should change the management team, whole SEA economic is so good in past few years, but Courts is killing money everyday.
