2.6b shares so 20% is like 560m but depending on take up rate figure might be lower. It is easier and cheaper to buy off rest of investors with better offer once offer become unconditional, cma only need to cough up 150-200m out of it pocket

The magic no for cma is 90%, cannot get support it is omfg for french peep. The offer would start once letter are sent, i guess letter should come this week then offer would put for 28 days till it become unconditional. Deal not gona failed since th had agreed to sell it stake whicn meet the 50% condition. The big question is whether rest of investor would sell which would lead to compu sell once 90% hit. Anyway once it become unconditional and temasek stake changed hand then we see |

In 2004 when temasek offer fail , they need to cover short position used for defending offer price and hedge fund join the fun and reap off hundred mil profit from temasek fail attempt. It simple demand and supply of share go extreme and u see big movement. This time round CMA disclose it intention to delist too obvious, giving hedge fund opp for short term trading. Just watch the volume traded. In 2004 nol did shoot up after deal fail but after 1 week it com down and hedge fund make mil profit off temasek

Gona wait min 2 months for better offer after the 1.30 offer lapse and cma get temasek stake and become largest shareholder at appro 77-80%. Cma would try hard to suceed at 1st attempt to delist, easier and cheaper to delist nol once temasek stake changed hand since only need to pay premium to 20% shareholders. Do not expect cma to up current offer since they strike a bargain with temasek, wait for offer to lapse. It also depend on offer take up rate once offer letter comes in this week, 5 jul is where offer go unconditional then give another 2 weeks before offer close. CMA had to make ro anther delist offer due to sgx takeover rule plus they look determined to delist nol |

GO means general offer. The deal will not fail. The precondition has been met. They have to start the offer. Once temesek sells its shares, CMA can up the offer to the rest if they are desperate.

Sorry, I cannot understand the technical language :) In simple terms - if CMA fails to get 90% - the stock price should fall drastically howcome in 2004 the share price rose from   2.9 to 5 ?  What is the meaning of " GO" below ?  |

Those banks got credit line to buy and sell amongst themselve so can maintain a trading range. If deal fail all would be running for hill and clear position before getting caught pant down by hedge fund. Left right centre long time investors would get min 1.30 it only how much extra we can squeeze out of cma since odd is against cma.anyway offer letters not yet delivered so we don know how many investors would sway, stay cool and enjoy hope it be big drama with ex ceo come letting out the cat lol

Hi sgng123 ,  Many thanks for your advice .  Just another question , why the fund need to cover their short positions only when the deal fails , thought if there are short positions , just a matter of time positions need to be covered irregardless of deal fail or successful ?

Anyway longtime investors would wait it out since cma had displayed it urgency to delist too obvious. NOL shareholders got record of holding out against aĺ l odd like what happen in 2004. 2004 temasek used the same scare tactic but offer fail and temasek trapped with 67%, what happen later is fun short covering jet up nol share price from 2.80 to 5.00 lol |

Like what sgng123 had said below, I believe CMA could have anticpated such a  scenario and made provision for it. I' m not vested in NOL but if I had it, I' ll wait it out.

You mean CMA cannot raise offer prcie for this GO only , after GO over , CMA can raise offer prcie to the rest of the minorities who do not accept GO at 1.30 . Am I right to say this ? Appreciate your clarification.

Nah th just wanna get out of container shipping and dump the responsibility of maintaining sg export cargo to cma through discounted offer. If cma cannot get 90% they gona be in deep shit for trying to undercut shareholder.   10.64% cma open purchase a big chunck of that are done through off market deal with help fron th. Maybe cma can consider selling stake to th to help out lol |

No more open market purchase from cma, just waiting for offer letter to reach end of week. Next tue temasek would submit their approval for offer then gona be quiet till offer go unconditional on 5 jul, hopefully cma give up trying to rip off retail investor and make a better offer for rest of stocks |

Banks defend offer price through placing big short sell order to deter anyone from screwing up the deal. If deal fail had to cover short, if trader play up thr theme and buy up massively bank had to short massively. If deal not likely to be sucessful, opportunity for short term gain for those big players |

Cma cannot get 90% then cannot force delist it be stuck with majority and would cause major delay in ops merger and non core asset divestment need to hold special shareholder meeting witn 90% approval. Basically if cannot delist it gona mess up cma plan
