The Company bought back shares totalling 67 million shares, which are transferred to Treasury Shares which could be used to issue new shares to the senior executives when they exercise their options over a 5 year period. The steep plunge in the co' s share price benefitted the option holders as they paid $1 for the option to subscribe the no of units entitled to them at $3.78. $3.78 was computed based on a discount to the closing market price on the day of the award. If they subscribed, the monies go to the Company.

On point 4, does it means that the Management bought recently at $3.78? If yes, then they more likely to defend the price to be above $3.78 right? Did they buy a lot compare to their salary?

Share buybacks There were 23 primary-listed stocks conducting share buybacks over the five sessions ended Sep 29, with a total consideration of S$66 million, up from the preceding week&rsquo s S$48 million. Wilmar international again led the five-session buyback consideration tally, buying back 6.59 million shares at an average price of S$3.90 per share. It has bought back 1.07 per cent of its issued shares (excluding treasury shares) on the current mandate, as of Sep 29. |

Could be due to one or more or all of the below:
1) Not in the management' s priority
(2) Short Sellers daily attack knowing its is not the mgt' s priority to enhance the co share price (3) So called good projects failed to deliver (4) Does not affect senior managment.. they recently got their share options 42 million units and for each recipient, only pay S$1 for the right to exericse the option to subscribe share at $3.78 over a 5 year period, with vesting sheme $3.78 is the discounted market price at the time the option was granted, they could have waited, now the option price is lower.. (5) tepid share buyback after satisfying the options need..

What' s the strategy to further unlock shareholders' value by reducing this parent company discount? ..There are several options for us to unlock shareholder value. We can list more of our operations, sell additional shares in the listed subsidiaries, buy back shares, distribute some of the listed subsidiaries to Wilmar shareholders or take the Company private. We are not actively pursuing any of these options now as we are busy with many very good projects in China, Indonesia, India and other countries. We believe even if we do not pursue any of the options, the market will eventually realise the true value of the Group." Guess so called good projects are not yielding the returns...
