Of cos if your stocks price drop due to these news, it just an excuse for trader to move it. Season investor shld get use to this kind of fluctuation. Sure, go warn all the government, but making news like this in my personal opinion does no one any good. Virus mutates, is there a chance it mutates it becomes deadlier, sure. But there is also a chance that an asteroid hit the earth tomorrow. I understand the thinking that because Omicron spreads so much wider, the chances of mutating goes higher, but it can go either way.
