The new generations want to control every of their needs with just a handphone in their hands. If we look at how people control their Grab cars, it is like flying kites with invisible lines. When they board the cars, no talkings is needed. They will reach their destinations and just open the doors and alight. People want to be in control without social interaction. The only preblem with Grab now is that there is still a human driver sitting in the car. The day when Grab cars need no human control will be the doomsday for all other modes of point to point transport still controlled by human being.

I estimate that it still has 8,000 but declining everyday. Besides taxis, as you mentioned, it is also trying on all kind of other possibilities earning not from the drivers but riders. It has a mini bus shuttle service in Jurong Island that runs on timing but empty all the time. Others personal services are workable only if the passengers are willing to pay more and they are up to them to arrange with the drivers (not CDG). It has a digital app but not of much help because it is an in-house app supported by obly its own drivers. When riders try once, try twice, and get no taxis, they will try the Grab app. When you ask why CDG drivers why they pay higher rental to drive CDG taxis, they will tell you because it 'got calls'. But now since more people use the Grab app and less CDG app, it looks silly to continue to pay higher to drive that blue or yellow taxis with their HPs permanently on the Grab site. Digitalisation is not useful if it is not matched with the right business model
