Eight major Chinese ports increased 8.4% year-on-year in mid-October compared to the same period of last year.

Shenzhen in South China saw container volumes jump by more than 20%, while the ports of Shanghai and Ningbo-Zhoushan posted over a 10% growth rate.

Export container volume of the eight ports maintained growth with a 12.9% increase year-on-year, among which the port of Ningbo-Zhoushan, Guangzhou and Shenzhen all posted over a 20% growth rate. However, the inland container volume declined 2.2% in mid-October.

Cargo throughput at coastal hub ports up 5.4% year-on-year, and export cargo throughput increased 4.4%.

Crude oil shipments at major coastal ports dropped 2% while the port inventory increased 31.3%.

Metal ore shipments at major Chinese ports increased 11% year-on-year. The port inventory declined 2.8%.

In mid-October, cargo throughput at the three major ports along Yangtze river, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing increased  2.9% year-on-year, and the foreign trade cargo throughput increased 12.6%. Container volume at these three ports up 7.3% and international trade container volume increased 0.8%.
