Their cash is from lawsuits. The mgtm can continue to milk the company slowly. They can earn monthly salary and bonus.
Taking a company private must bring benefits to the offeror. What is in for the offeror if this company taken private? |

This is an 'amazing' company.
Indeed it has $96m cash which means it can go on losing $17.6m for at least next 5 years !? It is amazing that it makes gross margin of about $17.1m and it can spend $22.8m on selling and admin expenses or almost 130% of gross profit and $13.3m on research and development or almost 80% of gross profit. Wonder if it is run as a commercial enterprise with P&L goals and still feels answerable to shareholders. It has a one time gain of $17.9m from litigation settlement. Perhaps that's what the company is all about. Looks like their main source of income is when someone will copy their IP and they sue for litigation settlement. The accumulated loss over the years is $200m meaning they will have more than enough loss to offset any future profit to avoid paying taxes and yet our government praised the company in Parliament. The good thing it is still paying salary and offering jobs but I doubt it is offering any substantial value to our national coffer. In fact, it even listed a Grant Income of $1.6m. Just curious why is it even listed esp when it hardly needs to borrow with total debt at only $5.5m. Why incur the cost of staying listed ? It should be privatised unless again it serves to stay listed to sue for better litigation settlement.

At times, Creative can surge as much as 50% in a week. Hope they can turn it around to make it sustainable. Used to remember that they were operating from Funan Centre selling special chinese characters personal computers. | ||||

I just mentioned yesterday don&rsquo t believe what others tell you, stay focus in your objective. Remember cash is still king end of the day! In some instances and exception, local retail investors do a better job in spotting &lsquo gem&rsquo than analyst do, particularly some penny stocks which become &lsquo billion&rsquo market cap in less a year. Particularly Medtecs International Limited.. With more than 30 years experience in personal protection equipment (PPE) and other related services, Medtecs is looking forward to even expand its business in essential markets like US and Europe for better supply chain management. It is a known fact that with or without vaccines around the world, PPE will be in demand. Covid-19 has made the world around to be better informed the importance of such protective items and stay protected for their people. Reported in local Business Times 5th and 7Sept, analysts, fund house and VCs are pouring in to stay vested in medical counters of late. Point to note it also mentioned financial institution has started to offload shares in Top Glove and Riverstone. It remains to be seen whether Medtecs is the lucky one to receive fund support from these companies It is sad there are too few tech companies here that can really call a full tech company here. Razor and SEA are good examples that have good market shares but both are listed in Hong Kong and US respectively. Creative Technology that was once listed in Nasdaq, continued to disappoint many with its poor market performance and its share prices. However it is truly a tech company that had product once shaped and influence market trend once in its sound plaster product. Even other tech companies in Asia, Europe and US are still keen about its new invention early this year when Creative made news about its new product Creative Super xfi Gen2. It received 6 awards from various tech review siteas after launching new additions to its suite of Super X-Fi products at the annual CES 2020 consumer technology show in Las Vagas. The company still has what it takes when comes to first mover advantage on new tech invention. While Creative is not lacking in idea, it is too slow and small when comes to marketing strategy / budget. Too much opportunity cost when is not fast enough to protect its intellectual property rights and resulting in several &lsquo copycats&rsquo court issues with some BIG rivals..couple with poor marketing strategy, their failure in dominating the market shares had put Creative golden chance to become market leader for its products. They really missed big, can&rsquo t help feeling sorry for Creative Technology. Marketing is a BIG investment when a high performing organization (HPO) will not lack of. Even laymen and its supporters realized Creative is not bad, but much is needed to improve on its product awareness, functionality, design and ease of use etc. Today advanced tech companies will not lack of UX design and analyst in their teams. Besides good functions, trends in users&rsquo preferences/habits are things not to forget. Whether a company product can determine future trend or simply catering to current trend users (or even fail to meet current) is essential reason why HPO hire QX engineers in their product development stage and so forth. Creative seems to be lacking this essential element which explains its marketing failure despite the demo product could attain several awards in US Creative can still make it footprint worldwide but under different company&rsquo s name. For Creative&rsquo s product to continue make footprint worldwide, the senior management and investors should consider the company to be merged or acquisition by strategic partner , a HPO which has better manpower talents and resources to market its products worldwide. Maybe Creative will receive more local supports from government funds via investments from Temasek, GIC etc and rejuvenate Creative once again? Otherwise a matter of time Singapore will lose its one and only full tech company some are proud to call their very own &lsquo Made in Singapore&rsquo product that once shaped the trend of PC world! - analyst, John Wilkinson |
