My nephew just finish tour our NEWater visitor centre, told me about importance of own country water, reminded me of Hyflux.

SingSpring Desalination Plant is Singapore&rsquo s first desalination plant. Together with the second project, Tuaspring Desalination Plant, which was also built by Hyflux, the two desalination plants can meet up to 25% of the nation&rsquo s current water needs, contributing to the diversification and sustainability of Singapore&rsquo s water supply.

Desalinated Water 
The 4th National Tap 


A second and larger desalination plant with a capacity of 70 million gallons or 318,500 cubic metres of desalinated water per day, the Tuaspring Desalination Plant marks another major step in Singapore&rsquo s journey towards water sustainability. Today, desalinated water can meet up to 25% of Singapore&rsquo s current water demand. 


The plan is to grow Singapore&rsquo s desalination capacity, so that the Fourth National Tap will be able to meet up to 25% of our future water demand by 2060. 


I Believe Hyflux Will Grow To Be Stronger Due To Critical Involvement In Our 4th National Tap.

Brother, I meant to say something  but somehow overlooked doing so.  Do see ur pt n why u lost faith.  My assessment is that both coys have some similarities.  Both were once in a very sweet spot.  Then the invasion by the competition started.  The response by CT, as I see it, was to go to the mkt with quality products (Mr S himself did a comparison of his n Apple' s MP3 once) which it thought the mkt wld bite.  It was wrong cos that was not what the mkt wanted.  Apple won cos it not so much as knew what the mkt wanted - rather it knew how to psycho the mkt into accepting hip products it was dishing out (colourful, fashiouable, etc).  Even now if u were to read CT' s latest product announcement, u' d see it hasn' t changed - quality speaker systems it thinks the mkt wants.  I think it is likely not to be right again.  Hyflux meantime retreated from China when the competition became  cut throat n concentrated on selling to the spore govt where know-how, quality n reliability were given strong weightages n where Hyflux knew it probably had an edge n where it also knew that as a longterm pay master the spore govt was best.  But it also stumbled again  - when it ventured into ME n North Africa where sway sway it ran into the Arab springs.  That was when I gave up on Hyflux.  But it was the most recent tender that it won, not in its specialty of water treatment, but solid waste incineration, where apparently it was a rookie n yet  managed to dislodge the dominant player, that renewed my interest.  The risks are there, the huge capital required  n technical know-how are great challenges, but so are the long-term rewards.  N NEA wld probably have weighed its proposals n financial standing very carefully before awarding it the tender.  The spore govt will not fail.  But Hyflux will probably have to thread water during the long incubation period.  I believe they have the determination to n will succeed.  So, there we have it - the similarities between CT n Hyflux n the differences - CT did not succeed cos it did not engage the mkt appropriately Hyflux on the other hand, likely to be born again cos it succeeded in beating the competition to choose the spore govt n sporeans as its long-term paymasters.  Again, u are entitled to ur views.  At the end of the day, dyodd.  But I am quite confident on its long-term prospects going forward.

As for FA, we cannot trust this totally. Let' s assume that a stock is trading at 30cts and it has cash of $1 with no debt. This will definitely be termed as a " good FA" stock. But, instead of using the cash smartly, management decides to buy grossly overvalued companies with it. As management is usually smart, you have to read in between the lines. Then, instead of having $1 worth of cash, the company ends up with stakes in these overvalued companies and now has a debt of $1 per share.

Your ' good FA' stock is now a ' bad FA' stock. At the end of the day, before we can invest based on FA, we have to trust the management. But, how does one assess management in order to know if one can trust them? I don' t have the answers to this and hence, I rather invest in top entrepreneurs who are already financially wealthy as I think that their self esteem will be more important to them than just adding a few more millions into their bank accounts. 

When you are very wealthy, money will mean less and less to you. What is more meaningful is your ability to grow other businesses.  These folks will get a high when they successfully build up other businesses. One just have to believe in them and ride the journey with them.

If hyflux is a good company, time will tell.

Not an expert in Hyflux but just that negative cash flows spook me if i recall correctly.

But long term, it looks like on a downtrend

US wld probably  struggle to attain a  GDP growth rate of 3% over, say, 3 yrs  consecutively.  Yet growth was deemed sufficiently strong for Auntie Jane to reverse course.    China at 6.9% is a global disaster though.  But ... u ain' t see the best yet ....  China last yr imported a staggering 10.3 bil barrels of oil, which was a record.  But oil px kept slumping purportedly bcos of concerns that China demand wld drop with a slowing economy .  The truth more likely is probably that  America is not finding sufficient purpose to burn the increasing flood of oil that the shalers are mindlessly pumping without end n, to deflect attention,  is flagrantly pointing an accusing finger  at China.  Hello folks,  it' s out of date reading George Orwell' s 1984.  Recommend we all read George Sorrows' 2084 instead for a better insight into the 21st century world.

if the papers and news that control by whoever, start talking and printing news about US debts for one month, world market would crash by half in one week.
