One must have a talent pool of market regulators and educated and alert shareholders to be able to achieve this. No doubt it is a problem but there are economic positives in inflation which the market disregards. Instead, the market emphasises inflation and high interest rates as the key reasons to stock underperformance.  However, nothing is further from the truth. Stock underperformance is caused mainly by poor profits and low earnings per share of individual companies. No doubt, inflation drives up business costs, but the overall state of the economy that includes jobs, spending, savings and investments, etc. these are what drives economic growth and of course stock prices eventually. So let us not be fixated on one indicator - US inflation. Let' s learn also to look at US earnings and of course our own local company earnings and then decide if stocks will advance or decline. But I was thinking of the end of May whether we can close above 3,300. That would be quite an achievement, considering that it will mean that May would have been a positive month for stocks amidst a sell away in May phenomenon observed in 10 out of the last 12 years on the SGX. Next, tech stocks and manufacturing. Then almost all stocks in a bull run. How long will this last? A couple of years will be good. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	At the twilight of my trading ' career' , the market was calling out for STI 4,200. That was sometime in 3Q 2007. We know that the STI did not reach those levels. The all time high was just over 3,900. We have never reached those peaks ever since that Oct 2007. Minus 20% from that record level, we have 3,120 pts. (Bear market cut-off level using all time high as a reference) Current STI level (3,154) is not far from 3,120 pts. To recover to the record set almost 17 years ago, we need to climb some 25% from current levels! Eh sai bor? BOLEH! When? Let' s do it starting this year. Why now? Share with you in another post. Too sleepy... ...
