Because mermaid is one of the offshore company that is better managed, trading way below its NAV, recently awarded contract, and has proven resilient and managed to turnaround.

Seadrill themselves are in such a bad condition with all the exposure to so many deep water drillships and Jackup' s why would they buy Mermaid? No doubt Mermaid is a better managed company but challanges are there all over offshore market. | ||||

HUAT AH !!! In spite of low season period and overall market difficulty, utilisation rate of major vessels improved vs 1Q16. EBITDA increased from USD 2.1M 1Q16 to USD 5.8M 1Q17 driven by cost saving in subsea business. Net profit slightly decreased as a result of lower AOD&rsquo s profit sharing. Revenue dropped -7.8% YoY by slow down engineering projects. 1Q17 resulted in positive cash flow from operation USD 7.7M and balance sheet remained in healthy position. Order book (excl. AOD) stood at USD 150m at the end of March 2017. Diversified business by entering to a new market in Malaysia. Secured a long term subsea services contract until end of 2020 in Middle East area. Things get very negative if this stock fell through 20c....thought it was quite steadfastly stuck above 20c with sound balance sheet etc..but seems people get very defensive indeed to see this rush down so far so fast...if I missed some announcement then please point it out as did not see anything...

If Russia gets involved if any of their personnel hit then it be bad for a lot of things.....if Russia goes " Okay, we allow you to hit our friends Syria this time as they were naughty" then oil prices will return back soon...if only short-term swing oil stocks not going really worry....if escalates and get broader and more US/Russia fight then all bets off...Iran will side with Russia, Saudis with US and so forth...for now probably just a localized beating of chests...
