These are my reasons: Shareholders go to AGM with the sole objective of makan, i.e. Free Lunch.   It is only during AGM/EGM that shareholders find some value for their investments, really and not hahaha. Shareholders may ask a few stupid questions and then receive some stupid answers fromt the directors who are there also for " fooling around" with shareholders, nothing else would be done after the AGM, and all suggestions would be thrown down the drain, and in their hearts they would smile and think to themselves, " Good to take these suckers for a ride!" . If there are any good questions that would receive   good answers, you should know they are planned beforehand by actors, either own people or staff who may have one or two shares of the company.   This is what people at meetings with " guest of honour" do to prevent awkwardness, so I believe the companies are also doing the same thing. Shareholders should put up difficult questions for directors to dig for knowledge of ongoings at the company, even if that might discover any skeleton in the wardrobe, so to speak.
