97 % of the people here talk down SIA Eithere they genuinely scare and have no confidence OR they just want to buy cheaper at $3 ( or lower ) But people who grab at $3.6x are heroes .. : )   |

OK ... well, everybody who has MCB pays $1 for it and c01 more for those who bought the rights on the market. So why buy at $1 or $1.01 and sell lesser than $1 on 9 June ...  It might go under $1 only after awhile in the open market ...  Mother share should also hold at $3.50 mininum as minimum price for new shares from rights is around $3 plus the lowest Rights' last price.  This also, likely to stay above $3.50 but this can be shorted so who knows after that.

I am thinking what if there is an oversubcription to the rights allocated ? Temasek cannot buy enough and then when shares get listed ... there is a mad rush to buy in ?! |

by the way, the MCB will be traded from 9 June onwards. No point subscribing to them at $1 (machiam IPO) and might well see whether it' ll trade below $1 before committing.  | ||||

I did. Not too much but some.  The annual interest is quite good. 4% to 6% per year and compounded. If they redeem and I hope they do, then will have a good windfall accumulated. If they don' t redeem, yes, the conversion seems poor at $4.84 compared to today' s price. But the conversion is is after the original capital is increased by 80%. So if you plonk in $1000 to it, you get $1800 at the end of 10 years then convert by that ratio.  Working backwards it is like buying SIA shares at $2.68 today. So after 10 years, if it drops below $2.68 then we make loss of capital. if it is at $4.68 then one makes 80% over 10 years. If it is in between then it is in between.  I think for the next 2 years, they will struggle. Beyond that, my view of the aviation industry is that they will recover Leisure traffic completely and it will grow more and more. Vacation cannot be replaced by online zoom meetings, neither family reunion. Business travel, however, is permanently transformed so this part they will lose quite seriously. It will not fully return, only some. So yes, they will struggle more. But they are not alone, other airlines too. Only the fittest will survive. There will be casualties and there will be less players in the market. Fares might increase and that might help the industry.  Nodody knows what it will be in 10 years. no point speculating. Subscribing to MCB Rights is like buying the shares at $2.68 now based on the declared conversion ratio. And there is that possibility that they will redeem in between and if it comes in the 8th year or after, it is a good return.  Enter it knowingly please.

MCB is converted at price of $4.84 if not wrong . TERP IS $4.40 So loading at $3.6x is no big deal and with safe margin .   |

It shouldn' t go back to precovid levels, after rights issue, it is diluted around 2x, after MCB (if not redeemed), will be diluted 2x again. In other words, if SIA was $10 before covid, it will at most be priced at $2.5 if it manage fly to the same height in 10 years.  | ||||
