Forget abt super xif or whatever fi sound. Why iphone can price so high? Does it mean its features better than huawei, samung? Why Apple planning to make 75m iphones? Why so much demand depite it not being the best phone but still can charge a premium?
So far, what has creative done to mkt this product? If its marketing is as good as Apple, it can still charge a premium. Now, no one buys even if creative charge low |

You may be right on this. I have tested the Super XFI and initially I thought it was superb. The 4 kill points for this product are: 1. It is pricing himself out of the market with other headphones bb such as JBL, AKG, Sony, Klipsch 2. It is still using cable and the way to achieve the sound quality is via that piece of hardware. Who wants to listen to good quality music just on the pc? 3. I tested the following using a cheap $20 headphones from taobao. Covid killed its opportunity to showcase this product at IT fairs.

For a tech-company, its IP counts ............. someday/1 day someone will find it useful to use and monetise it .... and when offer too good to refuse, existing owners will exit the scene (and retire)

to be honest, after you tested out the " super" xfi, you will find that it is not super and nothing unusual. creative will be going back to sub $1 if it continue to produce and market sfxi product.

Creative sinks into the red with US$9.1m H2 loss
CREATIVE Technology has sunk into the red with a net loss of US$9.1 million for its second half ended June 30, 2020 compared with a net profit of US$7.2 million a year ago.
 
This was mainly due to other losses of US$1.1 million for the second half of the year, versus other gains of US$17.7 million for H2 FY2019, the mainboard-listed company said in a regulatory filing on Thursday night.
 
Other losses for the second half of FY2020 were mainly due to fair value loss on financial assets, while other gains for the year-ago period were mainly attributable to US$17.9 million received from the settlement of patent lawsuits, which were partially offset by fair value loss on financial assets, Creative said.
 
Loss per share stood at US$0.13 for the half year period, versus earnings per share of US$0.10 in the preceding year.
 
Revenue for H2 rose 17 per cent to US$29.9 million, from S$25.5 million a year earlier. This was due to an increase in sales from new products launched during the financial year, Creative said.
 
No dividend was declared for the half year, unchanged from a year ago.
 
For the full year ended June 30, net loss widened to US$17.6 million, from a loss of US$3.8 million last year. Revenue for the full year rose 11 per cent to US$61.2 million, up from US$54.9 million a year ago.

To be honest, Creative has developed a reasonably good product, SXFI. But they can't sell it because they are still employing an old school marketing technique. It's good to participate in CES every year, but I think they lost the objective of who are they targeting to sell - End Consumers or Business Partners? To sell such a product, you don't just talk it up - You say 'Holy Grail' but critics said 'My Foot'. I wonder if they have a target consumer segment e.g. do they expect old folks to put on a fanciful SXFI headset and run around listening to their 'Holy Grail' creation? Or do they want to attract the younger age group who are more willing to spend on such stuff? The SXFI China launch video was a big joke. Do they think they could attract the big Chinese market with such cheapskate marketing gig? To sell such electronic product, unless you are the likes of Apple or Samsung where they just announce their next product launch and people will flock to their stores, it is important for their marketing guys to know what 'Trend setting' is. Young people generally don't look for the best product but the trend the product is leading them to. Once they are attracted to that, they will continue to flock in when a new edition is launched. Maybe the old style Creative boss mentality is so long as their revenue is sufficient to pay all their staff monthly wages, he is more than satisfied, regardless if the company is in the Red or Black. If that is the case, then it's better he takes his company private. Good luck! | ||||
