DBS upgrades UOB to ' buy' from ' hold' , along with higher target price of $34.50Lim Rui Wen of DBS Group Research has upgraded her call on United Overseas Bank U11 1.97% from " hold" to " buy" , with growth picking up across Asean. Along with the upgrade, Lim' s new target price is $34.50, up from $30.30 previously, as she factors in other positive attributes including a potential lift in net interest margins with rate cuts delayed, stable asset quality, and also active management of deposit costs. Back in 2023, UOB completed the acquisition of various consumer businesses in key Asean markets from Citi, adding around 8 million customers to its fold. |

UOB have a bad loan from a property developer ...not a big amount ( $100+M ) and has taken it to court .. ( IN march or so ) I think this wld be written off due to the long process of the court . DYODD

Dbs, if convert back to pre bonus value, also at all time high. Uob ath is 33.33 in Feb 22, just before the ukraine war. Time for uob to catch up. |

int rate is holding ...which wld boost all 3 banks . Visa integration is for UOB but I think most of this is already priced in Also among the 3 banks , this is the weakest ......and managed by the younger Wee....promising 14% ROE ( note promising ) So it shld rise to 30 not a surprise ....BUT from here and XD Thur ...wld be a close watch for many . ( DYODD) I am more on DBS and OCBC . Happy investing.

All 3 banks hit the sky ........powering the STI to above 3250 . OCBC passed the $14 major barrier. What is install in the gem ( Chulia property , $3B Southern China pot or GE hidding asset value ... haha most likely ALL of the above.....Foreign talent like Helen can and would turn OCBC into a second DBS . )) Honestly among all 3 banks I am most disappointed w UOB , its old style and conservative mgt might to safe but reduce momentium for stronger growth ( New Wee might be even more conservative as concern for mistake causing him to be super careful ) ....hope I am wrong. 30.9+ so XD Thur....hitting 31 might be before xd ...good luck OCBC is moving very fast towards 14 .......15 wld be a top order unless something special arrive ......14+ is more a matter of time ( barring again any missile from both side. DBS also shld move toward 35 before or after its Q1 result and 54c dividend ( normally NO special D on Q1 result ) Dyodd Happy investing.

DBS : The bank has put up for sale a portfolio of 46 HDB shop and shophouse units, and private strata retail units with a total guide price of about S$210 million.
