Hope Seatrium does not become like Sino-Enviro, Jurong Tech, Hyflux etc. etc. But seriously, accounting and finance has to accomodate negative prices of companies one day and give meaning to it. And somebody must take responsibility for these negative prices. One can remember in the not long distant past, how crude oil futures fell into negative territory, albeit temporarily. What did this mean? People paying to get rid of their future stocks of crude oil! People paying others to get rid of their stocks? Not an impossible accounting event if shareholders are liable. Accounting wise, one cannot go below zero, ie, you can lose only whatever you put into capital. It went belly up & delisted, debtors will not ask you to top-up the accounts to pay them. Lest I forget my Ezion, Midas and Swiber counters! |

Quite possible for a return to penny stock status if it continues to bleed billions. A rights issue may indeed be then required. Some people hope for a return to profit any time soon and a restoration of a dividend. Maybe next year. I say, just maybe... ... We have to look several years down the road for such a large company to turn around from bn dollar losses, let alone make profit. Wait and see how the financial metrics turn out this year. Meanwhile, those wanting to punt to let go their excess energies and relieve their itchy fingers may do so as this trades between 8 & 9 cents. You guys already know the barricades set up, trade within them and you won' t lose much. Then you will be ready for the big gains if and when this company takes off.
