Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd. announced last week that Andrew Rickards will be stepping down as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Yoma Strategic after the company&rsquo s Annual General Meeting on 27th July 2015. Yoma will appoint Melvyn Pun as the new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director immediately thereafter.


&ldquo We are thankful for Andrew&rsquo s leadership over the past three years as the company has undergone a successful transformation. Together with the strong management team that we have built, Andrew has helped establish Yoma Strategic&rsquo s solid reputation both in Myanmar and internationally,&rdquo said Serge Pun, Executive Chairman of Yoma Strategic.


During Rickards&rsquo tenure, Yoma Strategic&rsquo s market capitalisation increased more than ten times to close to S$900 million. Shareholders of Yoma Strategic now include institutional investors such as Aberdeen Asset Management, Capital Group and Eaton Vance. Yoma also successfully embarked on a strategy of diversifying their portfolio growing from a company primarily focused on real estate to becoming one of Myanmar&rsquo s leading conglomerates. Under Rickards&rsquo leadership of Rickards, Yoma Strategic&rsquo s corporate governance and risk management has also improved significantly. The Group was ranked 26th in the 2014 Corporate Governance & Transparency Index out of 644 SGX-listed companies and was more recently ranked 18th among 100 largest Singapore-listed companies in the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard 2014, according to a statement released by the company.

Rickards will remain on as an Adviser to Yoma until 31st December 2015.

Resignation may not necessary be a bad thing, property market in Myanmar is now slowing down and it could be a sign that the company is revamping itself.

Yoma have a high percentage of their revenues from Property and diversification can help reduce the effect of the property slow down, after all Yoma also have interest in other industries and could be putting more focus in those areas.

 Yoma reported 4Q15 PATMI of S$8.1m, a 28.1% rise y-o-y.

This was boosted by translation gains of S$6.0m and a net

gain of S$1.5m (fair value gains on investment properties

net fair value loss on prepayments). Revenues rose

marginally by 0.1%, coming from non-real estate

(automotive, tourism) sub-segments which more than offset

the drop in revenues from the sale of residences and LDRs,

which fell mainly due to fall project milestones (as

residential sales are recognised on a % completion

method).

For FY2015 results, revenue and profits up year on year but attributed to several one off gains. The coming year presents some challenges for the company but at current prices, valuations seem low. Prices in the short term might continue to be suppressed but long term prospects for the company in the Myanmar market still seem good.

Yoma&rsquo s FY15 core net profit was below our expectations at 64% of our forecast, mainly due to the slow property sales. Yoma&rsquo s real estate business is expected to face headwinds in the next 12 months due to the increasing competition and wait-and-see sentiment related to the uncertainty surrounding the Myanmar general election towards the end of 2015. Growth from non-property segments could lend some earnings support but is unlikely to offset the weakness in the real estate business. As such, we cut FY16 and FY17 core EPS estimates by 64.3% and 25.6%, respectively. We downgrade Yoma from Hold to Reduce and lower our target price to S$0.46 (40% discount to RNAV). A key potential de-rating catalyst is the lacklustre property earnings.



Good headline but poor core net profit
Yoma&rsquo s FY15 headline net profit rose by 71% yoy to S$28.3m (FY14: S$16.4m) due to a number of one-off gains, including: 1) fair value gain of S$22.8m from two investment properties, 2) FX translation gain of S$9.8m, 3) negative goodwill of S$2.6m from the acquisition of New Holland Tractor trading business and the site of Landmark Development. The positive impact of these gains was partially offset by a one-off fair value loss of S$6.5m related to prepayments of the agriculture business. Excluding all one-off items, FY15 core net profit would be S$8.6m, representing a decline of 38% yoy (FY14: S$14.0m). In FY15, over 90% of the net profit was derived from real estate.

 Alert Admin 		I don't there was anything wrong about YOMA.I believe the plan was for his son to take over as CEO long ago.As the present CEO's stated his reason for his resignation "to implement succession plan".he will be the adviser until end of the year.

Long term prospect for growth is very good.KFC Is opening very soon. I also read that they are going to sell their telco tower company,which they hold 25%.

YOMA FY RESULT 2015.

FY2015 net profit attributable to shareholders up 71.7% to S$28.1 million
 FY2015 revenue increased by 10.4% to S$110.9 million
 FY2015 net profit rose 64.3% to S$39.3 million
 Increase in revenue was largely driven by automotive and tourism segments.
