pacific radiance is taking prudent steps to impair its vessels, just not sure how its impairment are done.How did they derive and what basis are used to perform the impairment test. Interesting point is, do all companies already have this impairment exercise going on? What' s the right amount to impair, is an answer no one can give. But not to impair at all, doesn' t seem right as well. |

Rights issues ar toxic for coys that are struggling. First of all, it is obvious that they have to issue RI because they are short of money and they are already borrowed to the tilt. The money they need are not to expand their florishing business but to SURVIVE a collapsing business. Even if the coy survives this turmultous period, and lets say oil prices recovers and the O& G sector gradually returns to a more sustainable situation, earnings for the coy will not suddenly improve dramatically. However, the no of shrs of the coy would be significantly enlarged due to RI. Look at Ezion and Ezra. Shares issued are 2.1B and 3B. How many hundred of millions of income will these coys have to make to give them a decent valuation for investors. For falling coys, RIs are a last call for help before they sink. |
