MAINBOARD-listed China Everbright Water, which offers water environment management solutions, on Monday (Jun 5) said a consortium it is leading has secured a project that that marks the progress the company has made to develop its asset-light business.

 

The project involves the engineering, procurement, construction and operation (EPCO) of the Jiangsu Huai&rsquo an Lianshui Konggang Industrial Park&rsquo s industrial waste-water treatment plant. 

 

The industrial park, slated to be an integrated hub for multiple advanced manufacturing industries such as aircraft manufacturing, is planned as one of the primary development platforms of the Lianshui Economic Development Zone in China&rsquo s Jiangshu province.

 

Related to the project is a 271 million yuan (S$51.5 million) engineering, procurement and construction contract that the company has signed with the consortium&rsquo s members and the park development company behind Lianshui Konggang. There is also an operation and management agreement with the park development company.

 

In essence, China Everbright Water, as leader of the consortium, will be responsible for leading, coordinating and organising all works during project implementation.

 

The company will also be responsible for the provision of the plant&rsquo s operation and management services, and be entitled to collect the waste water treatment service fee during the operation period of five years, subject to a renewal of another three years upon expiry.

 

Other consortium members are responsible for design, procurement and construction.

 

When fully operational, the plant, which will ensure the efficient and safe treatment of industrial waste water within the park, will have a total designed industrial waste water treatment capacity of 60,000 cubic metres a day, the company said.

 

This is the first time China Everbright Water is adopting the EPCO model in its environmental protection business.

 

China Everbright Water&rsquo s executive director and chairman Hu Yanguo said the project was secured after the company began actively exploring new business directions and promoting the development of both asset-light and asset-heavy businesses. 

 

&ldquo The adoption of the EPCO model will help the company to &lsquo go light&rsquo and export its rich experience and strengths in operations management, further enriching its experience in the asset-light business,&rdquo he added.

 

CHINA Everbright Water : U9E -6.52% reported net profit of HK$1 billion (S$171.9 million) for the full year ended December 2022, down 16 per cent from FY2021&rsquo s earnings of HK$1.2 billion.

 

Earnings per share also declined 16 per cent to HK$0.3532, from HK$0.4196 in FY2021.

 

Its board of directors have proposed a final dividend of HK$0.0514 per share, down from FY2021&rsquo s final dividend of HK$0.0683 per share.

 

If approved at the upcoming annual general meeting, this will bring the total dividend for FY2022 to HK$0.1059 compared to HK$0.1258 the prior year.

 

Revenue for the year under review fell 3 per cent to HK$6.7 billion from HK$6.9 billion previously. This was mainly due to lower construction service revenue from service concession arrangements, offset in part by higher revenue contributions across all of the group&rsquo s other business segments.

 

Gross profit margin fell three percentage points to 38 per cent from 41 per cent in FY2021, attributed to a rise in operating costs as well as the group&rsquo s election to apply a new value-added tax exemption incentive policy during FY2022. 

 

These factors resulted in a reduction in the gross profit margin of the group&rsquo s operation services for the year.

 

In all, China Everbright said it is in a healthy financial position &ndash with ready access to diverse long and short-term financing channels, quality assets and sufficient funds with a reasonable gearing ratio. 

ENVIRONMENTAL services company China Everbright Water : U9E -4.08% said on Monday (Feb 20) that it had secured a 668 million yuan (S$130.1 million) industrial waste water treatment project in China&rsquo s Shandong province.

 

Based on a build-operate-transfer model with a concession period of 30 years, the project comprises the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant, pipeline networks with a total length of 38 kilometres, and a pumping station.

 

It will be constructed in two phases, and have a combined daily wastewater treatment capacity of 60,000 cubic metres, Everbright Water said.

 

Everbright Water will hold a 98 per cent equity interest in a project company, which will build and maintain the project.

 

Hu Yanguo, Everbright Water&rsquo s executive director and chairman, noted that the project has the largest industrial wastewater treatment capacity and the highest discharge standard among such projects secured by the company to date.

 

He added: &ldquo Securing the project is the remarkable result of the efforts made by the specialised teams which were formed by the company since last year on doing research and exploring the industrial waste water business, which is encouraging.&rdquo

 

China Everbright Water announced, on June 29, that it has recently secured the upgrading and expansion project of Zhangdian East Chemical Industry Park Industrial waste water treatment plant in Zibo City, Shandong Province.

 

The project comes with an investment of approximately RMB 62 million ($13 million). This follows the company&rsquo s signing of Zhangdian East Chemical Industry Park Industrial waste water TreatmentProject Phase I in 2019.

 

The Zhangdian upgrading and expansion Project will be invested in, constructed and operated on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model, with a daily industrial waste water treatment capacity of 5,000 cubic metres.

 

Upon completion of upgrading and expansion works, the Zhangdian project will have a total designed daily industrial waste water treatment capacity of 10,000 cubic metres, with key indicators of discharged water complying with the national Grade 1A standard, according to the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant, with the remaining indicators in compliance with the National Grade 1A Standard.

 

Since the commencement of operation in June 2020, Zhangdian Project Phase I has been providing high-quality and stable industrial waste water treatment services to enterprises in the Zhangdian East Chemical Industry Park.

 

This year, China Everbright Water started to implement the Zhangdian upgrading and expansion project to meet the growing demand for industrial waste water treatment from enterprises in the chemical industry park, as well as to actively implements the relevant requirements of the special working team dedicated to water resources protection and utilisation of Zibo City.

 

China Everbright Water will continue to carry out the construction and operation of Zhangdian upgrading and expansion project to strengthen the effect of demonstrating projects for the market-oriented management of industrial parks, and develop Zhangdian East Chemical Industry Park into a globally advanced and locally first-class green chemical industry park.

ENVIRONMENTAL services company China Everbright Water China Everbright: U9E +6.35% has bagged a wastewater treatment project at the Ji' nan International Centre for Medical Sciences in Shandong, China worth 319.5 million yuan (S$67.8 million).

 

The company will mainly provide wastewater treatment services for the municipal wastewater generated in the Taipinghe, Meili and Emei areas within the Ji' nan Medical Centre area, the mainboard-listed company said on Monday (Jan 3).

 

The project has a concession period of 30 years, including a 1-year construction period.

 

It consists of the construction, operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant that will be fully underground, with a daily wastewater treatment capacity of 50,000 cubic metres (cu m).

 

China Everbright Water will incorporate or designate a wholly-owned subsidiary as a project company, and undertake the project construction with China Construction Eighth Engineering Division (Xiamen) Construction.

 

The company expects the project will expand its presence and influence in Shandong Province and provide a good foundation for further water projects in the region.

 

The project has also boosted China Everbright Water' s aggregate water treatment capacity in Ji' nan City to more than 1,500,000 cu m a day.

 

The company said it will raise the aggregate investment amount via internal resources and external financing.
