Indonesia is the world' s 4th most populated in the world, and currently the highest infected in SEA, and potential sales shd surge once orders start coming in, likely from 2021 onwards. After launching for just 3 months in1H2020, the sales of Bio test kits seemed quite successful, and had already contributed significant rev, ext: " With the launch of our COVID-19 Antibody Test Kits on 30 March 2020, the sale of the COVID-19 Antibody Test Kits has contributed S$6.33 million in revenue in HY FY2020, which propelled the Group&rsquo s revenue to S$7.10 million in HY FY2020." This is only for just 3 months from april to june 2020. Can expect multifold rev with good profits in 2H, and thereafter. There will be a tremendous surge of demand for rapid test kits when airports, checkpoints, mass events, and the like. Not forgetting ' bubble travel' arrangements which is taking shape now, including Singapore. Vaccine or not enough vaccine, rapid test kits will be used all over the globe, at least for the next few years. Besides covid, Bio' s various partnerships in Asia in the Cancer diagnostics areas should also bring in more profits for 2H. Am expecting to see the counter price on the rise significantly from now to 2H result, end of Feb. Cheers! ![]()

Asymptomatic spread to blame as Asian countries struggle to contain resurgence of Covid Nations that were once held up as exemplars of disease control are now being tested https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/asymptomatic-spread-blame-asian-countries-struggle-contain-resurgence/ Escalating coronavirus outbreaks could prove a &ldquo real test&rdquo for Asian countries that have so far maintained control of Covid-19 without stringent lockdowns, experts have warned. On Friday South Korea reported more than 500 new Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day, a figure not seen since March, while infections have jumped by 41 per cent in Japan over the last week. Both these countries have been much praised for their success in keeping large outbreaks at bay.  Meanwhile Malaysia saw new cases surpass 2,000 for the first time and in Hong Kong, where infections were hovering in single digits, authorities detected 81 cases on Thursday.  Dale Fisher, a professor in infectious diseases at the National University of Singapore, told the Telegraph that the latest resurgences could prove a &ldquo real test case&rdquo for governments.  &ldquo We' ve been going for a year now and these surges are some of the biggest we' ve seen,&rdquo he said, adding that the upticks are largely driven by small clusters rather than large super-spreading events. &ldquo This suggests Covid might be a bit more intrinsic in the community.&rdquo In South Korea there are growing concerns that its much-lauded contact tracing system may be stretched   as a result. While the majority of cases have been detected in the Seoul metropolitan area, the Korean Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) has warned that the latest increase in cases is not concentrated in specific regions or groups.  This contrasts to previous outbreaks. In February, for instance, South Korea was able to contain a super-spreading event linked to a church in Daegu through strict but localised control measures and rigorous contact tracing. The KDCA added that the rise in asymptomatic patients - they accounted for roughly 40 per cent of new infections, compared to 20-30 per cent in June - has triggered an increase in untraceable clusters of Covid, while cold weather has pushed people indoors where the virus spreads more easily.  Hospital capacity has also been called into question. This week the Prime Minister, Chung Sye-kyun, warned that daily infections could surpass 1,000, triggering a shortage of intensive care beds if the current uptick continues for more than a fortnight.  Prof Fisher said that the surge may be driven in part by fatigue but also &ldquo overconfidence, because the response in these countries have been successful to date&rdquo . &ldquo Whether they can really control this will be testimony to their strategies,&rdquo he said. &ldquo But I really hope in Asia we can control it with public health measures rather than needing a lockdown.&rdquo The reopening of nightlife in several countries, including Hong Kong and South Korea, has also driven the resurgence, Prof Fisher added.  &ldquo You could argue they pushed the bar a bit with reopening nightclubs and bars, but it' s about finding the sweet spot between the economy, health and social,&rdquo he said.  &ldquo It will be interesting to see, though, if they can tweak the social restrictions and improve behaviours to get numbers down, or if they have to go into a lockdown light.&rdquo This week the government has imposed reimposed strict social distancing rules on the capital city and its surrounding areas, closing nightclubs and bars, introducing restaurant curfews and limiting religious services - only a month after similar measures were eased.  Meanwhile in Japan Tokyo reported 570 new Covid cases on Friday, a new record for the capital city, while shorter opening hours have been imposed on bars, karaoke lounges and restaurants in Osaka' s hotspots.  The country' s Prime Minister, Yoshihide Suga, has called the next three weeks a &ldquo critical time&rdquo amid growing concerns that both hospitals and the contact tracing system could be pushed to the brink. The country is also scaling back two contentious subsidy schemes &ndash Go to Travel and Go to Eat &ndash which were designed to stimulate domestic tourism and eating out, after it became clear the programme was a driving force of the third wave. &ldquo I think this just goes to show that there is vulnerability in relaxation, which no one is immune from,&rdquo said Julian Tang, a consultant virologist at Leicester Royal Infirmary, adding that Covid fatigue is kicking in across the globe.  But he stressed that while the rising numbers are &ldquo alarming&rdquo , especially given the large elderly population in countries including Japan, Asian nations are still much better placed than much of the world to respond to any resurgence.  &ldquo There are two reasons - firstly comprehensive testing has been in place for much longer, but I think the population is probably more compliant in Japan and South Korea,&rdquo he said.   Prof Fisher, who is also chair of the World Health Organization' s Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, added that governments &ldquo will be able to ramp up contact tracing, ensure people are isolated and quarantined, that sense of community responsibility is pretty good.&rdquo He also said that he said that border closures make countries in Asia &ldquo less vulnerable to what the guy next door is doing&rdquo &ndash while some countries are struggling, cases have fallen by six per cent in southeast Asia in the last seven days, according to WHO figures. |

Biolidics jumps 22.6% on news of Covid-19 test kit distribution
This comes after its announcement that it will distribute kits in Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines

SHARES in Catalist-listed Biolidics rallied for a third consecutive day on Friday, advancing more than 20 per cent by the closing bell.

This comes after the medtech firm announced it will distribute Covid-19 test kits in Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.

The counter hit an intraday high of 40 Singapore cents before easing slightly to close at 38 cents, up seven cents or 22.6 per cent.

The stock registered four sessions of gains this week, declining only on Tuesday. Year to date, the counter has gained 55.1 per cent.

Some 30.3 million shares changed hands on Friday, making it one of the most heavily traded counters for the day on the Singapore bourse.

On Thursday night, Biolidics said it got the green light from the authorities to distribute and use its Covid-19 antibody test kits in Indonesia.

The authorisation remains valid until Nov 25, 2021, and may be extended " should there be no undesirable events upon usage" , Biolidics said.

The company said results from the kits are not for confirmatory testing, or as the sole basis for diagnosis.

Instead, they have to be interpreted with clinical presentation and confirmed with supplementary testing.

Biolidics also warned that policies for diagnosing and detecting the Covid-19 virus and antibodies in various jurisdictions may change.

Earlier this year, the company had announced plans to distribute a test kit in the US.

Its shares had surged on the announcement, but sank after Biolidics announced it would terminate the distribution agreement due to increased competition for such kits.

In a separate filing on Thursday evening, Biolidics announced an agreement with China-based JOYSBIO (Tianjin) Biotechnology to distribute the latter' s Covid-19 test kits.

JOYSBIO owns the medical device known as the " Sars-CoV-2 antigen rapid test kit (colloidal gold)" , the firm said.

Biolidics has been appointed the non-exclusive worldwide distributor of JOYSBIO' s test for a year.

The company will automatically become the exclusive distributor of this product in Singapore if it orders 100,000 units within 90 calendar days from Nov 26 in Singapore, as well as the exclusive distributor in the Philippines if it orders one million units within 180 calendar days from the same date there.

According to Biolidics, JOYSBIO has received provisional authorisation for the test from the Health Sciences Authority in Singapore.

The test is only for use by clinical laboratories or healthcare workers for point-of-care testing, and not for at-home testing.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, Biolidics expects the distribution agreement to contribute positively to the group' s revenue after FY2020.

Antigen rapid test kits use nasal swabs and aim to detect viral proteins (antigens) in patients during the acute phase of Covid-19.

This is different from the serology rapid test kits currently sold by Biolidics, which require drawing blood and seek to detect antibodies that usually appear in patients during the recovery phase of Covid-19, the company said.

" In Singapore, it is intended that antigen rapid test kits can be used for rapid Covid-19 testing at certain mass events in the near future," Biolidics added.

Yeah, it is the worst infected country in SEA, with reported staggering death of more than 16,000. Hoping the use of Bio test kits can help to improve the situation there. ![]()

There are already a few antigen tests " approved" by HSA.  And the tests are not related to cancer diagnostics.

Biolidics' anitbody test kit can be used in Indonesia with yesterday announcement. Now that Biolidics' ANTIGEN test kit (by Joybios) achieving Singapore' s Health Science Authority green light, i believe it make sense for them to get this ANTIGEN test kit approved as well in Indonesia. DYODD  Daily Rise in Indonesia Coronavirus Cases &lsquo Alarming&rsquo : Task Force https://jakartaglobe.id/news/daily-rise-in-indonesia-coronavirus-cases-alarming-task-force NOVEMBER 26, 2020 Jakarta. The surge in newly coronavirus cases is alarming after daily numbers began to reach a new level of 5,000, the National Covid-19 Task Force warned on Thursday. Indonesia saw a new high in daily coronavirus cases yesterday while the weekly average has been climbing to set new records in four consecutive days. &ldquo We would like to remind everyone that the daily number has passed the 5,000 mark three times this month. It has never fallen below 4,000 this whole week to reflect a growing alarm over continuing transmissions,&rdquo task force spokesman Wiku Adisasmito said in video conference.   Indonesia has recorded 4,917 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 516,753. An additional 127 Covid patients have died, the highest daily death toll in more than a month, to take the total number of casualties to 16,352. The percentage of deaths in proportion to overall cases is 3.2 percent, still higher than the global average of 2.4 percent, Wiku said. The total number of active cases hit a new high with 66,752 or 12.9 percent of overall cases, against the global average of 28.4 percent, he added.   Four worst-hit provinces in Java remain the biggest contributors to the daily numbers -- their coronavirus cases combined account for around 57 percent of the national tally. Central and West Java have added more cases month to date than their figures in the whole month of October. Central Java has added nearly 17,000 cases since Nov. 1, against 11,477 cases it recorded in October. It has reported more than 1,000 cases in the one-day period five times this month, becoming only the second province after Jakarta to report a four-digit daily number. The recent surge has moved Central Java to the top three of worst-affected provinces by overtaking West Java two days ago. Central Java has a total of 50,880 cases and 2,197 deaths, also the third-highest death toll in the Indonesian outbreak. West Java became the fourth province to pass 50,000 cases after adding 776 in the last 24 hours. The seven-day average in Jakarta began to trend down but it has never reported fewer than 1,000 cases in the last two weeks. East Java is at a distant second with a total of 60,190 cases, but it has the highest casualty toll totaling 4,275. It has been averaging 297 cases since the beginning of the month, not even a half the average in Central Java. Coronavirus cases in three other hotspots -- Riau, West Sumatra and East Kalimantan -- rose significantly in the 24-hour period. West Sumatra recorded 306 new cases, its highest daily number in almost a month, to take its total to 19,251. East Kalimantan added 222 cases for a total of 18,916, while Riau reported 206 cases to take its tally to 19,335. The three provinces have outpaced South Sulawesi, which was hit badly by the virus much earlier but its daily average has fallen to two digits for the last two months.  |
