wonder if wilmar has any effort into advance biofuel like collecting used palm oil from their hore and precook business. advance biofuel is now requied in us for 5.63b gallon of biofuel must come from advance biofuel. convert almost no cost used oil into biofuel.  environmental friendly and create revenue source |

" Wilmar bought back 5.4 million shares at an average price of S$4.41 per share. For the previous year&rsquo s mandate,  it bought back 19.9 million shares,  which represented  0.32 per cent of the company&rsquo s issued shares (excluding treasury shares). Wilmar International led the  Q1 2021 consideration tally, buying back 8,141,700 shares in the quarter at an average price of S$5.29. As of March 31, the leading agribusiness group had purchased  0.83 per cent of its issued shares  (excluding treasury shares) on the current mandate." source:  BT 2021 first quarter it bought back 0.83 percent of its shares at average price of $4.41. As of May 8, 2022, it purchased 0.32 per cent of its issued shares at average price of $4.40 I like the management,  they buy more when share prices are up ($5.29) and less when prices are down ($4.41) Not focusing on enhacing the share price due to the various measures....including share buyback   |

Guess the 2021 share buyback at  $5.29 averge price is not propping up a falling share price but the contrary as it seems. If you are holder of a co share and you believe the co good projects will yield good operating resutls and not dismal results, you would take a short term financing against your share collateral.  And not dispose them.   |

buy is easier to understand. buyers are expecting a return of their investment in a future time. buy backs are done at many times due to big sell down. the buy backs are necessary to prevent a collapse price due to the sell down which may trugger other unwilling sell. in effect providing an orderly market operations. normally can support price but cannot move price up. |

people sell for different reasons. examples. to buy a farm, villa etc. got better investment offer to them.      some is due to expectation market is going  down so sell first. some may be they borrow moey need to return. etc may not be anything to do with the share they are selling.  basically they need money for other things.

The analysts put TP of $6.40, then $6, then $5.50 within the last two years. As they said, a broken clock is right twice in a day.. |

Palm oil & Sugar are their largest biz. Soyabean is also big. Wilmar is well diversified in various soft commodities. UOB KH reported that Yihai biz is improving. Keeping fingers crossed. If they IPO their Indonesia & African biz or sell more Adani Wilmar shares in future to unlock values that would be very good. Hope they delivery good set of results Q2 & beyond.

India&rsquo s plan to restrict its sugar exports should not have a significant impact on Wilmar International as it mostly sells its sugar domestically, according to analysts at RHB Group Research. For the first time in six years, India plans to restrict sugar exports to prevent a surge in domestic prices. This could potentially cap this season&rsquo s exports at 10 million tonnes, the analysts point out. &ldquo India is the world' s biggest sugar producer and the second biggest exporter behind Brazil. Heatwaves have withered fields in India, prompting a government order dated May 13 to restrict shipments and safeguard domestic supply.
&ldquo It is making exceptions on export restrictions only for prior commitments made by private traders through irrevocable letters of credit, and for exports to countries that require wheat for food security needs, based on the requests of their governments,&rdquo they add. In India, Wilmar owns the majority stake in Shree Renuka Sugars, which has seven mills with a total cane crushing capacity of 8.4 million tonnes and two port-based refineries with a combined capacity of 1.8 million tonnes, selling sugar under the Madhur brand. It is the largest refiner in India. See also:  Broker' s Digest: Sheng Siong Group, UG Healthcare, ST Engineering
Sugar is captured under two segments in Wilmar&rsquo s earnings &mdash the feed and industrial product segment, which comprises the sugar trading business and the palm oil and sugar milling segment, which represents 1.7% of its revenue. As Wilmar mostly sells sugar domestically, it should not be significantly affected by the ban. The analysts highlight that there could, however, be a slight negative impact if the ban is extended into the next marketing year, which starts October. There are no changes to RHB&rsquo s earnings estimates. The analysts maintain &ldquo buy&rdquo on Wilmar with a target price of $5.10.
As at 10.23am, shares in Wilmar are trading 2 cents higher or 0.48% up at $4.12. |

I dont monitor this closely since it cross $4. Sugar should also be rising . If I am not wrong Palm oil and it soybean China are larger business unit .  Important is Wilmar management of its cost which can totally unset it profit by division . Whatever I do hope a better Q2 , only wonder how much the china shut down will affect it . Keeping finger cross  Dyodd

Interesting to see Q2 results. Wheat flour business might be affected by the Ukraine war.  Adani probably mill Indian Wheat.  Anyone knows what percentage does wheat / grian account in their P & L?

If we look at the last quarter results, the soaring oil palm prices and excluding the equity divestment gains the normal operating results were dismal including cash flows and gearing. More of deluded mice running on treadmills on their so called " good projects" , of course you can wait for eternity.. meanwhile, the interested parties would be happily getting their stock options, remunerations, bonuses for years to come..   |
