SGX should just close shop and not waste time on when it is unlikely to go anywhere except further down the pipe and with everyone along with it.

My cost price is low for this gem ($1.67) and have been holding on for more than 10yrs. Dividends have allowed me to recoup my cost long ago.  Many school of thots whether worth holding long term, buy sell based on charts etc. I just know one thing that SGX is a counter with moat, as long u trade singapore shares, you go thru SGX. And the thot of collecting 19% dividend yearly makes me a vey happy investor. I did not sell when it was $17+ years ago, I did not sell again when it was $12+ days ago. Was it a waste? Hmm... It is all on hindsight wisdom.  Vested, probably will form part of my estate to be bequest to loved ones.

When economy is good, people buy shares. When economy is bad, people sell shares. Either way. the Broker always win. So I am collecting on dips, enjoying the dividends at the same time. |

fundamental problems, if the bourse is devoid of those quality listings, do u reasonably think that this company will prosper and scale new heights. and the problem with the mgmt is it rarely listens to feedback and thus all the blue chips will shun this place like a plague. the daily turnover of the entire sgx is only about 1/3 of Tencent holdings, that really speaks volume of the pathetic state of SGX. |

Finally, below 10! Hopefully, it goes in the 9 and 8 over the next 2 quarters.  Too little too late....it is a falling knife in slow motion...

Now closed below 200MA and I think likely to see more selling in the short term.  So wait patiently for it to go down before buying in.

SGX prices maiden US$250m bond issuance at 1.234%The Singapore Exchange (SGX) saw strong investor interest for its maiden US$250 million bond issuance. The five-year notes carry a coupon of 1.234 per cent and will be issued at par on Sept 3, 2021. The issuance reached an order book of US$2.3 billion from 131 accounts, according to deal statistics seen by The Business Times.  Asian investors continued to anchor the trade, with 88 per cent of the orders coming from the region, followed by 12 per cent coming from Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Half of the notes were allocated to fund managers, while 31 per cent went to banks.  The notes are semi-payable annually. They fall under the bourse operator' s S$1.5 billion multicurrency debt issuance programme (MTN) established in October 2019.  Moody' s Investors Service assigned Aa2 long-term local and foreign currency ratings to both the senior unsecured component of SGX' s MTN programme and to the maiden drawdown. Net proceeds from the issuance will be used to finance the investments of SGX and its subsidiaries, refinance existing debt, as well as for general corporate purposes. SGX chief financial officer Ng Yao Loong said the bond issuance attracted " robust interest" from high-quality investors across the region. " This follows the highly successful convertible bond issuance earlier this year and reflects investors' broad-based confidence in the resilience of our multi-asset business model and ability to navigate near-term challenges," he added. Citigroup Global Markets Singapore, DBS and Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) were the joint lead managers of the bond issuance.   |

For me, my observation is this I have met many people who do the buy and hold and over the long term, meaning at least 5-10 years or even more None of them are making losses overall in the long run Some of them are even having overall profits during market downturns/crashes (Eg. If you are collecting healthy dividends for 10-15 years, easily 50k-150k already or even more Sometimes even during market crashes, the paper loss is lesser than the overall dividends collected over the years) Since everything is already paid in cash and having the holding power, can consider buying more during market crashes or just wait it out You can easily earn back your investment, double or even triple it (paper and actual profits + dividends) when market is good So it  is surprising if there really are people who do buy and hold but still keep losing money Buy and hold technique is good for - people who want to invest but have no time to keep monitoring and doing frequent trading  so they just buy as and when they have excess cash regardless of market ups and downs otherwise known as dollar cost averaging, as well as time in market vs timing the market such trading fundamentals have been proven effective  - investment in companies that have proven to be strong and stable and has been consistently giving good dividends (usually not penny stocks) usually companies that give good dividends are reits and bts but there are also a lot of other companies that are consistently giving high dividends comparable to reits/bts or even higher IMO, penny stocks are actually quite risky for buying and holding especially for people who are unable to be constantly monitoring Who actually does buy and hold for penny stocks btw? That will be a spell for disaster Maybe only for their first few trades when they first started? Other trading methods such as playing around the buy and sell triggers, contra, shorting or even cfds More often than not, proven to be largely loss making on the average rather than profits High risk = high rewards, but also can mean higher losses In other words, not really investment but more towards speculation and gambling Not for the inexperienced traders and not for people who can' t afford to constantly keep up with the news and market/price movements I have known people who prefer to play contra, shorting, cfds etc When they made money, they buy lots of things freely like BMWs, condos, antique/designer furniture Cash comes in fast and in loads that are sometimes really unimaginable Since these trades are largely not cash based,  and when they lose it sometimes they can' t pay up and go bankrupt And they turn into the beg, borrow, steal type of shameless people overnight Sold away businesses like coffee shops, gaming centres or jewellery shops etc Sold away condos and cars and whole family moved in with their parents Go around borrowing money and seldom pay back Known quite a few of them in fact that went bankrupt in this manner, kind of feel sad for them SGX really has a lot to do to improve if compared to other markets Really not a lot of growth stocks as compared, but at least SGX stocks are more stable (if not counting penny stocks) Lower risks = Lower returns though
