Indeed investors need to be keenly aware of any potential dilutive effects of the MCBs, and be careful when applying BVPS to assessing SIA' s stock value. If you had tuned in earlier this month, some here on this forum had discussed this as much as I am sure it was debated when the SIA MCBs were first proposed.

Hi Wherel,
I have no quarrel with accounting standards, just with SIA deviating from fair and reasonable accounting principles to publish misleading BVPS information.
 
Its sad that the regulators have not stepped in to regulate SIA and news reports in publishing correct BVPS information, even after the soc gen saga where the TERP was determined to be $3.70 when it was otherwise commonly discussed to be $4.16 then.
 
The failure to ascertain true BVPS is simply a harbinger of bigger scandals to come.
 
The reticence of SGX or other regulators will only embolden companies like SIA and Hyflux to dress up their accounts with misleading information to dress up their share price, much to the detriment and loss of the average retail investor.
 
Hopefully, this forum is not just frequented with rowdy punters/ gamblers who do not care about value investing or the true BVPS of stocks discussed here.

If bic cherry your quarrel is with accounting standards, you may take your case to the financial accounting standards board - FASB to dispute generally accepted accounting principles. This forum is not the appropriate forum to voice out your disputes. The last thing we want is constant bickering over accepted accounting standards and principles, that leads to confusion here in this forum.

You mean to catch the  " Flight to nowhere" similar to yesterday  from $4.52 to $4.77 and back to $4.58? Yesterday, the candle stick was a shooting star. The trend may be reverse if today shows a red candle. Will stay watching as there are too many unknowns compare with the knowns.

This will sure cause some impact on SIA on Monday , should see red on Monday unless SIA announce travel bubble to Taiwan has given green light
From what i see Hong Kong covid case will take at least 2 months to recover. So travel bubble to Hong Kong i would say has to halt for quite some time
