FOR THE BENEFIT OF NEW READERS IN ISDN FOR COMPARISON BETWEEN MEDIUM/LONG TERM INVESTING VS INTRADAY/CONTRA/SHORT TERM TRADING:
For Intraday/Contra/Short Term Trading, They enjoy the Thrill, Excitement of Fast Money With Small Wins. For Medium/Long Term Investors, They are not Interested in Small Returns, but are Fishing for Larger Windfall. Some people like to feel like a Winner and Winning means Making Money in the Stock Market. So They enjoy the feeling of being a Winner as often as possible. They cannot stand seeing a Red Portfolio or at a Loss. So whenever their Losses start piling up, They Sell. Whenever their Profit comes, whether Big or Small, They take. At the end of the day, the Real Winner is the Brokerage who basically Makes Commission from the Frequent Trades with No Minimal Risk involved. However, a Medium to Long Term Investor looks at the Company like Buying a Property or Land. They understand it may not make Money in the Short Term but so long there is Capital Appreciation in Future and in the Mean Time, as long as there are some Form of Income Yield (Dividend Yield is just like Rental Yield), which may not be Large but can Cover Some Cost, they are Happy. Often, it is this Group of People who Makes the Most Money. Not Immediate, but in the Long Haul. Anyway, it is a Persons' Own Perogative as per their Risk Appetite as Own Money, Own Target. No Right, No Wrong as Big Volume Trading Liquidity is Most Welcome as Market Participants have to make their Own Judgemental call as to ISDN's market direction. As Astute, Strong Hands and Seasoned Iron Hand Investors, We must look at the Potential Medium/Long Term Price Appreciation but not Immediate Short Term Gains. Having said that, if you are Happy with the Profits and don't want to Risk Further and can Accept Missing out on Future Upside, then by All Means Take Profits. Therefore you have to ask Yourself, what is your intent of investing in the first place? Is it to seek Immediate Gains, or to Build Wealth? As Always, Due Dligence is Warranted. |

For the benefit of new readers to ISDN's Thread:
ISDN's Medium to Long Term PRIMARY UPWARD TREND remains intact but to most market participants, it's all about the feeling of being wrong. Ironically this drives those that possess that mindset to make mistake after mistake. Successful market participants overcome these fears. Confidence rules their thoughts and confidence is gained with success. Success then begets more success. Naysayers, Perma Bears, and unsuccessful investors have ONE thing in common, they all lack confidence in their abilities. Instead of a positive feedback loop that comes with success, it is a negative loop that they find themselves in because they fight the PRIMARY UPTREND. Far too many resist what is obvious every waking moment and that is like trying to fight gravity. They keep calling for very deep corrections that never materialize, keep calling for market tops and crashes that never come and insecurity takes over. That mindset eventually leads to blaming everyone and everything for THEIR shortcomings. That lack of confidence and insecurity then breeds contempt for ANYONE that has done one simple thing, followed the PRIMARY UPTREND. As always, due diligence is warranted to suit risk appetite. |
