Yes, I remembered senior Tong did said during one AGM, that whatever spare money (profit) which they have no near term use, will be given out to shareholders in the form of dividend. Then all of a sudden they U-turned. No more dividend policy. Share price only can get worst from here lor. Because nothing to look forward to already mah.

My take is as long as they are reluctunt to share/give dividend, whatever " create value" might not attract investors. I just piti the sharholders for now  ![]()

I doubt that they have enough capital as mostly are ?locked? in Taiga.. how much capital can the paper and power division generate to pursue further M&A deals..

From AGM Q&A uploaded on 26 Apr 2022:
"3. With reference to the CEO statement in the Annual Report, please elaborate on how management plans to create value for the shareholders? Response: Avarga?s mission is to build value for our shareholders, this is the company?s primary function. With reference to the CEO statement, management needs to prioritize achieving a fair market value. However, this is still in its very early stages, and we will make the relevant announcements if and when appropriate. 4. If management truly considers Avarga's shares to be undervalued, won't share buybacks generate greater returns for continuing shareholders? Is it necessary to pursue further M&A deals when a simpler option for capital allocation exists? Response: Share buybacks is one of the options to return capital to shareholders. We have conducted buybacks in the past and will continue to monitor buyback opportunities in the future." Let's watch in anticipation... |

From the CEO' s Statement in Annual Report 2021 uploaded on 14 April 2022: " ... While we have succeeded in many of the goals that we set  out to accomplish over the past 10 years, we have also fallen  short in some. For instance, we have been unable to achieve  a market valuation that properly reflects the performance  of our Company. This has handicapped us in pursuing M& A  opportunities and limited shareholders&rsquo ability to generate a  fair return for their investment. This is despite our attempts at highlighting our Company&rsquo s  performance through frequent industry engagement and a  capital allocation strategy focused on an aggressive dividend  policy. Therefore, as we move into our second 10-year cycle, besides  re-charting our path, we also need to rethink our capital  strategy to better create value for all our shareholders. This includes the cancellation of our dividend policy. Naively,  we had thought that strong and sustainable growth in  earnings, well-articulated explanations of the Company&rsquo s  performance, and good dividend payouts would translate  to better valuations. ..." V clear ambition. Wonder what would come next for this Company? |

The Paper and Power only contribute to 4% of the revenue. Full year gross profit around $16M.. After operation cost, not much profit left for shareholders.. Really must wait long long for Taiga to issue dividend..

They were fed up that the market did not accord a decent valuation to Avarga's shares despite the previous dividend policy . But the thing is.... in the first place they failed to deliver on the policy. I recall that the dividends was below the payout rate stated in the dividend policy.. otherwise, this is a good company with good management. I believe that they didnt want to give too much dividends as it would require them to first issue dividends from Taiga to Avarga. Any dividend from taiga will get taxed exorbitantly (i think 30%) by the Canadian government. And this is on top of the high corporate income taxes that Taiga is already paying.

Taiga is still publically traded with market cap of  281M CAD or  303M SGD. https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/quote/TBL.TO?p=TBL.TO& .tsrc=fin-srch To my understanding, this TBL ticker is ownership of the remaining amount of 30% ownership of Taiga? Please let me know if I' m mistaken here. Theoretically, doesn' t that make Avarga' s 70% holding of  Taiga value at 707M SGD = 303M / 30% x 70% ? |

What is the Avarga&rsquo s current dividend policy? Response: Avarga currently does not have a dividend policy following the cancellation announcement on 26 February 2022.  Seems like need to wait long long for dividend  |

Lumber price is declining from peak, and it reflected on Taiga price movement as well. If no new catalyst, share price will slowly drift downward. | ||||

Avarga previously got almost zero loan. Only recent years the older Tong decided to borrow. He did explained during one AGM why they borrowed eventhough they need not do so. Current all in loan stands at 160+ m. Not very much considering the cash they are holding (88 m). They have no problem repaying the loan at all. NAV now is at 32.5 cents, almost 7 cents higher than previously.  Unvalued stock if u r looking at price today. |
