CDW Holding launches anti-ageing cream after five years of R& DCDW Life Science - the subsidiary of CDW Holding - has just launched an anti-ageing cream after five years of R& D efforts in Japan.Called the YOSHIMI Night Cream X, the anti-ageing cream contains 38 different types of herbs, flower and fruit extracts. It also has active ingredients such as vitamin B3 and fullerene which have shown to have anti-ageing properties. What sets this cream apart from the dozens on the market is the usage of pterostilbene glycoside, an antioxidant developed jointly by the CDW group and Professor Emeritus Hiroki Hamada from the Okayama University of Science.  Pterostilbene is a type of antioxidant that is commonly found in grapes, berries, and other plants. It becomes water-soluble when glycosylated, allowing it to be absorbed better and remain in the skin for a longer time. A study conducted by Japanese skincare giant, Cosmo Beauty on an early prototype of the pterostilbene glycoside cream found that the ingredient improved the apparence wrinkles by 20% on average, within four weeks of daily use. CDW Holding has obtained a patent for the antioxidant in Japan and South Korea. At present, customers living in Japan, China, Hong Kong and Singapore can buy the cream online at YOSHIMI Japan' s online store. " The launch of the [night cream] is an important development for the company and the industry," says Yoshikawa Makoto, the Chairman and CEO of CDW Holding. He adds that the group is the first to harness the tremendous potential of pterostilbene glycoside in the skincare and cosmetic industry. For now, Makoto does not expect sales revenue from the YOSHIMI Night Cream X to have a significantly material impact on the group' s performance in FY2021 ending on Dec 31. Shares in CDW Holding closed up 0.5 cents or 2.17% at 23.5 cents on Sep 29. |

CDW Holding subsidiary secures license to distribute portable batteries for Covid-19 vaccine freezersCDW Holding, on July 19, has secured a license &ndash through a sales distribution agreement &ndash to distribute Tocad Energy' s " CUBOX" line of portable lithium-ion battery packs in Japan. The agreement was signed by CDW Holding' s subsidiary Tomoike Industrial. Tocad Energy is a leading energy storage systems manufacturer in Japan. The CUBOX battery packs serve as emergency power sources for server rooms, point of sales systems, as well as for healthcare essentials such as life support systems, ventilators and medical refrigerators. The battery packs are also said to be able to power ultra-low temperature freezers used to store Covid-19 vaccines. They can be used at mobile vaccination sites to deliver vaccines to underpopulated areas, far from major cities. " The demand for rechargeable energy storage systems will only continue to grow, especially in the healthcare sector. As the Covid-19 current pandemic has shown, decentralized access to healthcare services like vaccinations will become a key measure of countries' resilience to natural calamities like this one. High-performance battery packs like the CUBOX are critical to such capabilities," says Yoshikawa Makoto, chairman and CEO of the group. As at 11.06am, shares in CDW are trading 1.5 cents higher or 5.7% up at 28 cents.   |

Automakers keep making cars&rsquo touchscreen dashboards bigger and bigger. But Mercedes-Benz just unveiled one so big that the German luxury automaker felt it needed its own name: the &ldquo Hyperscreen.&rdquo Mercedes unveiled  the Hyperscreen, a massive 56-inch, curved touchscreen infotainment display that will debut in the company&rsquo s EQS all-electric luxury sedan when it goes on sale later this year. The Hyperscreen incorporates multiple displays within one sheet of curved glass that extends completely from one side of the front of the vehicle to the other.
Don&rsquo t miss:  The best cash-back credit cards with no annual fee Mercedes said in its  press release  that the glass display is curved to all for &ldquo a distortion-free view of the display unit across the entire width of the vehicle.&rdquo
The Mercedes Vision EQS of German car maker Mercedes is pictured at the company&rsquo s booth at the Frankfurt motor show IAA 2019, in Frankfurt am Main Germany, on September 10, 2019.

The Hyperscreen includes features such as the digital speedometer above the steering wheel, to air vent controls on both sides, as well as a full infotainment system in the middle of the screen with functions like GPS navigation and radio or phone controls. Those functions will be controllable via digital touchscreen and voice-command controls for both the car&rsquo s driver and front passenger, Mercedes said.

Mercedes adds that the Hyperscreen also uses artificial intelligence to create what the company calls its &ldquo zero-layer feature,&rdquo which learns the driver&rsquo s and passenger&rsquo s habits so the system can suggest those functions and reduce the need to &ldquo scroll through sub-menus or give voice commands&rdquo that could distract from the road.

Source: Mercedes-Benz
For instance, Mercedes says the zero-layer feature could be useful in situations such as when a driver typically calls a certain person at the same time on certain days, and the Hyperscreen would be ready to suggest a call to that person the next time that situation presented itself in order to save the driver the trouble of searching through their contacts.
&ldquo All [Mercedes Benz User Experience] suggestions are linked to the user&rsquo s profile,&rdquo Mercedes says. &ldquo If someone else drives the EQS on a Tuesday evening, this recommendation would not be made &mdash or another one is made, depending on the preferences of the other user.&rdquo

Source: Mercedes-Benz
In fact, different drivers (or &ldquo users&rdquo ) of the EQS will be able to save their own customized settings for features such as seat adjustments or heating, as well as the interior lighting and music preferences. The system is able to identify different users with a fingerprint sensor in the touchscreen, and Mercedes&rsquo infotainment technology is also capable of both  voice and facial recognition, the company has said previously. The Hyperscreen is set to be the largest touchscreen display on the market, though other automakers have certainly been ramping up their own infotainment products of late. For instance, Cadillac&rsquo s 2022 Lyriq electric SUV will be equipped with  a 33-inch touchscreen display  that covers most of the car&rsquo s dashboard, while Chinese electric auto startup Byton&rsquo s M-byte SUV (which has  faced production delays) features a  48-inch touchscreen  that stretches across the top of its dashboard. Meanwhile, Tesla has worked to add  more and more features to its own in-car infotainment  offerings, including the Model Y electric SUV&rsquo s 15-inch touchscreen that links to streaming services like Netflix and Hulu and also includes a &ldquo Caraoke&rdquo library of songs with lyrics. Mercedes unveiled the Hyperscreen ahead of the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show, which begins on Monday and has moved to an  all-virtual format this year  amid the coronavirus pandemic. |

CDW Holdings brings forward dividend ' to support shareholders' amid Covid-19FRI, JUN 05, 2020 - 8:33 PM CDW Holdings said on Friday that it will pay out a second interim dividend of S$0.007 per share in lieu of the final dividend of US$0.007 per share proposed for 2019. This means that shareholders will get their payouts on June 22, instead of having to wait till after the company' s annual general meeting (AGM). The payment of an interim dividend only requires the board&rsquo s approval and does not require shareholders&rsquo approval under the company&rsquo s by-laws. CDW has received approval from the Singapore Exchange to postpone its AGM to a date  on or before June 30, due to disruptions caused by Covid-19. The group said: " Given the economic uncertainty surrounding the global Covid-19 pandemic, the board is of the view that it is in the best interests of the shareholders to have  the dividend distributed... as soon as possible to...  provide some support to them during this difficult period." CDW shares rose 0.9 Singapore cent or 6.92 per cent to S$0.139 on Friday. https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/companies-markets/cdw-holdings-brings-forward-dividend-to-support-shareholders-amid-covid-19 |
